Unhappy transferring digital camera photos to pc

I am not able to transfer my digital camera photos to my WINXP pc. I was able to do this before, but now I cannot do so. I'm not sure if I disabled a startup service in msconfig, or in services.msc - as I did set a few services to "disable" or "manual". Is there an answer for me what may have caused my camera to stop transferring pics to the pc? Is there any one special service that enables this function? might I have disabled somrthing inadvertently? Thanks for any solution.

I suggest you transfer your pics via card reader instead of camera to pc.

Good luck.

card readers are cheap nowadays and they can almost read any kind of memory card like SD

My one Gbyte card for digital camera has an external way to connect through USB 2.0, without card reader, it's sd btw.
