I need to know which column will tell me when and what time a site was visited. I've tried the history folder, but the 13 yrs old may have deleted it.

In the Temporary Internet File, the last 4 columns say:

Expire Last Modified Last Accessed Last Checked

They all show a date & time, but the times are confusing to determine a TRUE last visit date.

SYSTEM: MS Win XP '02 (if this helps)

Thanks

Rob, the answer to that is simple. In IE, click on the button that says History. Now in the left hand side, you'll be presented with a list of all the sites that they have visited. Click on the yellow folder that corresponds to the website you want and you'll see a further list of specific pages they have visited within that site. Choose one by highlighting it (click once) and the R click on it, choose 'Properties'; then you'll see the last time/date they visited. This will give you the info you want ONLY if they have not reset the history folder.

I respectfully disagree. He said that he had already checked the history folder. If the contents of that folder have been deleted, then I'm almost positive that the history folder in internet explorer will show up as empty also? Am I correct on this?

There are other ways of checking history. However, you have to have sum sort of logging program, or you have to have a firewall (such as norton) that logs it. Other than that, I don't know.

Correct me if I'm wrong on the first part guys.

Correct. IF the history folder was reset, then the method i gave would not give Rob the information he's looking for. I guess i misunderstood his posting when he said that he had checked his TIF and couldn't find the info. he was looking for. When he said that his kid 'may' have deleted it, it sounded like he wasn't sure if they had indeed or not.

Well regardless, now what you have to do Rob is to look in the 'Last Accessed' column to check for the date/time.

Wouldn't the last date modified be the same as the day they visited the site?? When you visit the site, it will download the necessary info and thus modify the file.

Temp Net Files - Thx

Hey thx 4 the quick response.

d14dsp1k3 ur right. I had ckÂ’d history & it was swept clean. I will look n2 a loggN program & NortonÂ’s firewall.

Lone Wolf - I’m sure it was deleted. The 13 yr old thinks he’s got 1 on me. I will go with “Last Accessed” for a last visited date.

However bla, yesterday was the 1st time I visited tech-forums and 2day there's a date in April for last modified and 2dayÂ’s date for last accessed & checked. Hummmm....

I think uv all ansÂ’d my question. I have to b a step or 2 ahead. Bottom line, someone is on punishment for a loooooong time. I didn't want to address him w/o knowN 4 sure it was accessed by him & not the computer accessing it on it's own via cookies or sumthin.

Mega thx.

Oh, IÂ’m a gal.

There is several other spots you can check as well besides history. Depending on how slick the kid is, if he deleted cookies, temporary internet files, and history than it will be hard to trace but if just deleted the history you can still trace it.

If he has his own user account in XP then you must look under folder in XP

C:\Documents and Settings\user

You will then see "most" of his folders there. You will need to go to the File menu on top and select "TOOLS" then "FOLDER OPTIONS" then "VIEW" scroll down to hidden files and folders and select "show hidden files and folders". This will present you with new data in your sons folder or if there is only one XP account this applys as well.

In that folder you will now see a folder called "Local Settings" then inside that folder "Temporary Internet Files" click in there and there will be all the web pages and photos that have been viewed assuming he hasnt purged that data. Also you can check the "cookies" folder in that main user folder as any "naughty" websites always pack plenty of cookies on the machine ;-) so a birdy told me...

Thx Win2k...!

I took ur advisement and ckd c:/Doc & SettN/User, but I chd that folder previously and deleted the evidence by mistake.

Thx 4 ur help. It took awhile to get back 2 u due to the computer crashN ever since the site were visited.

Run some spyware tools and that will clean up any mess that was left behind from those "sites".. ;)

Go to www.download.com and search for Spy Bot Search and Destroy...if your kid surfed porn there is most likely some piece of spyware from that porn website hiding on the computer somewhere...then if you find something like "sextracker" you have your proof :) dont go to rough on the lad we was 13 once...haha.

Rob, i stumbled upon a fix that might work for you - but it will only work if your drive is formatted as NTFS.
