Default Temp Folders

I was recently running Anti-Virus for a Client & noticed most of the files detected lived in Temp Folders
I deleted all the files in these Internet related Temp Folders, while tracking down the errors etc, I also deleted the Cache for Internet Explorer.
I was wondering if this is a worthwhile exercise or am I as well just following the procedures laid out by the Anti-virus suppliers

Thanks for all help

Deleting the temp folders definitely does help. You can find utilities that can automate this for you here.
