task manager not working

my task manager simply doesnt open anymore....like if i do ctrl-alt-delete or if i right click on the clock thingy and click Task Manager...
i have xp pro...also i ran ad-aware and hijackthis

Post the Hijackthis log In the appropriate section.

Run a repair off your windows OS Disc.

that happens to me when my wireless disconnects, or when alot of memory is being used

in other words...your PC is lagging.
