tar.gz and tar files are a *nix system archiving standard, similar to zip files for Windows. Most compression/extraction utilities such as Winzip should be able to extract it. Here is a free utility called Power Archiver that will do the trick.
Download the powarc61.exe, it's an older version as the newer ones are no longer freeware.
