Default is TAGES copy protection bad?

I'm thinking about buying (Anno) 1701 (A.D.), which I've found has TAGES protection. Is this bad like Starforce or is it just there and unannoying? Not sure if it goes here, I guess its software, thanks.

It's all malicious, they try to keep you from copying what is yours.

lol. as much as that makes me laugh general does have a point no matter how off topic it is. copy protection tells me one thing. wen i spend money to buy software, or music, or movies, i dont own it. i lease it from the corporations. thats just not right.

anyways back to your question, if you mean will it act like spyware like Sony's rootkit, or crash your computer. i doubt it. and if you really don't want it some hacker site probably has a program out there that will kill it.

Tags as I understand, sets duplicate sectors on the cd, exploiting the the way a drive tracks, it doesn't stealthly install unwanted software.
