Default system tray clock

some of you may have found out that if you make the taskbar two storeys high, the clock shows the date and day as well as the time. is there any way of making it do this without having the taskbar two storeys high, without using software, like tclock, or something similar? i want it displayed in one long line, like so:

As far as i know there is no way within windows to make it do that without going 2 stories. I know you can hold the mouse over it and then it shows the day/date. Unless you get some program that runs on the desktop i dont think there is a way with windows. I could be wrong.
