i've got an hp computer running windows xp and an older ibm thinkpad also running windows xp. i lost the original disks for the thinkpad, and it has become screwed up pretty much beyond repair. my question is this: can i format the thinkpad and use the windows xp system restore disk i got with my hp? if this is possible, would i then have to dl all the necessary drivers, or could i also use the driver recovery disk that came with the hp? any help welcome.

The HP cd might only be able to be used in your HP, but you can give it a try. Even if it does work, it has the drivers on it for the HP, not the IBM so you might have some conflicts, errors, etc.
