"PC Hardware in a Nutshell" by Robert B. Thompson is also a good book to keep handy. Make sure you get the latest edition, though (which I believe is 3rd, right now). A 4th edition is in the works.

U can also use Virtual PC or VMware Station which can run 2 OS together. Such as run linux on window or run window on linux.
But your ram have to be bigger if not will cos your system lagging.
