Suspect Virus but can't find it

So i think the problem I'm having is virus but i know sometimes scanners can't find them but that there are fixes out there, but in this case i can't find any info on it here's what's happening and what I've done

every time i try to download a virus scanner the download completes and says it is transferring but never shows up in the folder i save it to.

any time i try to install or uninstall an anti virus program the installer crashes.

every time i try to open one of the anti virus programs on the system they start loading and then nothing happens...

i have used a live cd to scan the drive it came back with one virus. i then pulled the drive and scanned it with another system and still nothing.

I'm sure this is viral but i have no luck finding or removing it. any help would be great

Have you tried booting into safe mode with networking and download/installing?

And how are you so sure it is viral and not malware/spyware?

no it could be the others to. sorry i use virus as an umbrella word to describe those aswell. and no i will try that now

no dice... tried safe mode same problem

If you want to check your PC for malware/spyware/viruses go to Spyware Asylum, select your operating system and Full Scan. Follow the directions carefully.

You'll need to start a thread in this section, Viruses, Spyware and Malware, to post the .log files and get them checked.
