Default Sudden freezes!?

I have the system below and for the past few days my comp has been habitually freezing whenever I run a game. I'll load up the game, any game, and everything will go find; but in about 5 or so minutes the entire computer freezes and picture on the monitor goes nuts, distorting the image severly. Ive only found this to happen on games; however I've tried every game and I get the same result. Recently installed SP2. Thought that may be the problem, uninstalled it, but no change, the freezes still haunted me. Also download the latest vid drivers, still nothing. Finally I uninstalled all recently installed programs. Like before i still recieve freezes. Sugguestions? Solutions? Sledgehammer?

Re-install graphics card drivers
Scan for spyware and virus
or start>run
type: sfc /scannow
to search for changed system files replace them with the original files from the disk

It definately could have for a wide variety of reasons which I will not go into detail here.

Is the issue resolved or do you need further help?
