Recently my PC has been stuttering really badly, i got to play online games and its like im lagging but i know its not do do with the net. And when i just open a program like ITunes it struggles and i get like 70% CPU usage and when a song is playing and i minimize itunes i get like a remix of the song for about ten secs. I recently had a virus but i cleaned it up quickly as i have NOD32, which may well be related. I run NOD32,Adaware SE, Microsoft Anitspyware.. and delete unneeded junk with Ccleaner and they r all updated. I have checked my proceses 2 check for suspicious processes but their is none. Can anyone help me to get my comp running smoothly, id prefer less durastic options over things such as reformating and reinstalling windows etc.
But any suggestions apprecited.
Cheers

Is heat an issue? What is your CPU running at temp wise? This could happen when its overheating. It could also happen when you are using up all your phsical RAM and depending on the page file.

What is starting up with your computer? How many items are checked in your startup tab? You can checking by going to your START menu then RUN, then type MSCONFIG. You will see the startup tab. Do you defrage often?

Yes, stuttering sounds much like either a memory issue or a configuration/fragmentation issue, barring some mallware/viruses.

Doing some system mantainence would help with that, you should also be sure that your hard drive is not to full.

You mention recently you had a virus, some viruses can do a lot of harm or be resident in memory. You can uninstall then reinstall your video and audio drivers in the case of corruption.

I have seen computers acting up in this way most often when there file corruption or a virus.

I have hardly anything on starup, anitviurs and a few others. I only have 265mb SDRAM which i know is not good but its use to run fine without stuttering with the same RAM. I did a defrag just the other day but one of m HD's are quite full so ill empty that a bit. Ill also try reinstall the drivers. The virus was a variant of a WIN32.adaware.wup_application(something like that). This virus was found in my Microsdoft Anit-spyare Beta Quarantine folder. I havent been able to find much info on it but i dont have much exp with viruses.
Thanks for the help, ill report the results. BTW whats a good program for testing CPU usage, and i have to test it for 24 hours for goood results right?
