Stupid Folders

Whenever I open a new folder in XP all the files within it are shown in thumbnail or tile format. I hate having to manually change it to 'list' for every new one I open. There has to be a way to change one's defaults so that all folders automatically show their contents as a list. Can you tell me how to do this?

Right click on the folder, then click properties, then customize, you can force windows to treat it as documents.....even change the folder's icon.....

set it to list, go to to folder options, view, apply to all folders
