Default Strange occurances on xp

My computer is acting very strange lately!!
Any time I try to access the My Computer area the computer acts like it will switch me to that screen, then the screen goes to a blank desktop and then my normal desktop appears in a couple of seconds. Sort of like if I would have refreshed the desktop. The exact same thing
happens when i'm in internet explorer (online) and I try to type anything in the address bar, I am instantly kicked off line back to the desktop (like stated above). Also, if I try to access any media areas on my computer the same thing happens!! This also happens in Safe-Mode.
By the way I have run multiple spyware scans, virus scans, registry fix scans, defraged the registry & hard-drive & deleted every temp file you can think of!!
This is driving me up the wall..........Please, can anyone
HELP ME with this odd problem without having to
re-format and re-install my windows xp??

Send a message via MSN to office politics

repair xp

boot to cd, follow install (not first repair), accept eula.

it'll search for exisiting installations of xp. Highlight the your install and press r to repair your os.

patch your system afterwards.

I was going to tell you to download and install HighJackThis.
You can post the log in the Analyze section of the spyware/virus thread.

The repair will help if its your OS messing up your explorer.
