strange error message on shut down

Now this problem occurs when the PC is shutting down, unfortunately there is no way to take a screenshot because everything freezes when this error shows up and i have to do a hardboot.


it says "Error navapsvc.exe"

"Instruction at "0x0040a466 referenced at "0x0000000"

anyone know what this means or how to fix?

navapsvc.exe" belongs to Norton AntiVirus.

I would start by un-installing and re-installing Norton Anti Virus or ditching norton completely for some free product like AVG or something I consider better Trend Micro PC-cillin

im not ditching norton, its a perfectly good program and ive never had trouble with it.

I might do a reinstall but id rather fix it without doing that...

is there any other options i could try?
