Startup Problems

Running MS XP.

When booting up the screen freezes at what seems to be the bios screen. Would this indicate a problem with the hard drive?

do you hear any series of new previously unheard beeps as the computer starts?

Have you tried to clear your CMOS? That will reset the BIOS and possibly allow you to boot.

Two separate issues. First determine if it is truely freezing at the BIOS screen or XP screen. If it is freezing at the BIOS screen it could be almost any hardware issue. If it is freezing at the XP screen it is either the hard drive or a corrupt file within windows.
