startup problem

not always but every now and then when i start up I get an error page saying "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL".
Beginning dump of physical memory.
dump complete.
Any ideas.

Hey scottiedog, when you post these types of questions ALWAYS include your OS and some hardware specs please.
 
most likely a hardware problem. maybe a bad driver or failed hardware. check this page for more info ( http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm )and if you have XP, try a System restore or if you just installled a new driver, do a Rollback and see if that corrects the problem
 
Hey, I also sometimes deliver the same message on blue screen, but it happens not on sturtup, it sometimes happen to me while playing "hard" games, like NFS Undreground, Worms 3D, that have minimum procesor requirement about 200 Mhz more than I have. (But they still works :)).
 
check event viewer if you have XP and see if any messeges in there. Also download and try Driver Verifier Manager. It monitors kernel mode drivers to see if any illegal function calls or corruption in system files.
