Have you gone into Power Settings from the Control Panel? If you haven't do so, then enable Hibernation if you have to and the advanced power management features.

It does support it. Its only a year old and I had all that stuff on it when i bought it with windows xp home edition

Gateway didnt include a OS cd with my computer so I had no way to restoring all the software and drivers that it comes with when my computer went nuts

Ok , got it. Video drivers have to be installed for these functions to work.
