Default SQL server 2000

Greeting,
I am trying to install microsofts sql server 2000 on a windows xp pro machine. I found out sql server requires a server o/s otherwise it will not install.

Here is my question. I have heard there is a way to edit the registry to get sql server 2000 to install on windows xp, however, i have not been able to figure it out nor find any information on it on the net. If anyone knows a work around to get sql server on an xp pro machine please let me know.

Thanks,

SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition2 and SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) should work, what ver do you have? Standard would have a problem.

see if this will do the trick, I know the one you have you are supposed to have a server o/s like you stated above, but maybe this will have some info...
