I've recently been having some problems with getting stuff done on my computer, opening programs, playing music while browsing, a little multi-tasking, etc.

I plan on getting more Ram because I'm only at 256 and have 120 gigs of space to deal with spread out on 2 hard drives.

But I was looking at my Task manager "processes" tab during yet another slow startup session and wondered if I had too much stuff on it that didn't need to be there. Can anyone tell me what all these programs exactly do?

By the way, ignore the "Firefox.exe" and "Photoshop.exe" files. I took that screen shot while writing this and editing the picture.

go to start, run, type msconfig, go to startup click disable all and reboot. What av are you running?

I'm not sure what you mean, Warez, by av unless you mean my 64meg geforce2 video card.

Thanks Warez.

I'm using Norton 2005, but not the Norton firewall. I use Adaware, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, and the Windows Firewall right now.

your problem is norton, realone, photoshop and 256 mb of ram. norton is is using most of your ram. upgrade your ram to at least 512 and use nod32, winamp and paint shop pro

I would uninstall the kodak easyshare. use windows scanner and camera wizard. it organize the picture a lot better and windows automatically recognize your camera usb drivers.

I would take the jave resheduler out of startup too

I'll be getting rid of Kodak soon. I had to install it (digital camera program) for a school project this semester.

I'll try to get rid of realone. I need the player just to handle some videos on the internet. I normally use winamp for my media stuff, though.

Oh, and should that messenger/msmsgs.exe be running all the time? I don't use messenger and wouldn't willingly touch it with a 10-foot clown pole unless it was to get rid of it.

Thanks EricB
