Default SP2 and games

I installed SP2 like a week ago when i installed widows XP Pro and when i played Counter-strike i like lagged so much and that stupid firewall thing where it says you may be at risk kept poping up. Is it nessasary to have it installed or will SP1 "protect" my computer enough??

1. SP1 doesn't have the firewall that SP2 does.
2. SP2's firewall only reacts when a new connection is being "felt," so I would look at what is going on with your game server.
3. When gaming, turn your firewall off.
4. If you're having problems with SP2's firewall, turn it off.

You could just create another hardware profile dedicated to gaming. In this new profile, stop all unnecessary services...you will notice a performance difference

Read the Windows help file. It's great for telling you how to do things in Windows.
