Default Sony Vaio into media server.

Hi guys, I have a old Sony vaio that I want to use as a media server on my home network (5 pc + media server)

It has windows xp on it and It has problems, So I need to reinstall XP or something else. I don't have the restore Cd's But it has the XP key on the back of the case, Can I download a XP torrent and use the key that's on the back of the case.

OR, Should I use some different software?

I want to use it to record TV, Store Movies, Music, Pictures, backup important files and hook up a couple shared printers to it.

If I get it all working the way I want, I will install 2 500GB IDE HDDs from newegg $100 bucks each.

What are my options?

All suggestions and advice are welcome!!
