I have a few mpeg files that, when opening with either RealPlayer or WMP, only have sound. Since they are the size and type of file that would have a picture, I'd like to know what I could do.
I already bought some sort of decoder but as far as DVDs go it was a complete waste of $20. Not sure if that matters though because these are saved to my HD.

Win version,and video card please.
Try the player that came with your video card.
Does the file name end with .mpg,.mpeg or maybe mp3 ?

You missed the point.I have dld'd files called eg:video.mpeg.
I renamed them video.mpg.
An ext can't be more than 3 letters.

oh, so you are saying that if I rename them .mpg it should be ok?

I hope I'm not missing the point!

Yes

A 4 letter extension won't work.But Winamp plays music,not video.
Where did you get and, what are these files ?
This really shouldn't be such a problem.
