solid works problem

Don't know whether I'm in the right area for this one.
My son is trying to install his solid works programme onto new laptop. Problem as follows.
1 loaded disc successfully
2 Serial no requested and entered
Problem What to do next?
My son has forgotten since he first installed on his pc.

Will it not work without the serial? If the program starts the installation successfully but doesn't complete, then you should call up the software vendor and ask what the issue is.

Thanks for the reply. after a very frustrating day, my son is informed that the software he has is not compatible with windows 7. His pc is xp
