Software for Core 2 DUO's?

Hello All, with the C2D's, is there any software that is recommended to be downloaded and installed? I'm familiar with the AMD Dual-Cores where I installed the Cool and quiet Driver and dual core optimizer, anything like that for C2D? The PC will mostly be used for gaming, but will also be left on at night for P2P downloads.
