Unfortunately, I don't have a screen shot of this so hopefully I will be able to describe it. Everyone, of course, knows what a shortcut icon is...you know that little white box at the bottom left of the icon that has a little arrow pointing up and towards the right? Has anyone ever seen that little white box with two arrows, one pointing up and right and the other pointing down and to the left (in the same little box)?

Something like that? Are you sure that it isnt your mouse cursor? Cause that is the Resize mouse cursor icon. Could be that the shortcut icon is using the wrong image.

Try to rebuild your icon cache.

No. It looks something like this:

Apologies for my lack of skill with Paint but that is the gist.

Looks like the Vista Network Icon. For something that is shared over your network.

It ended up being a file association error. The file types were listed as a Micros@ft doc. I changed the association path to Micro Word doc and it seemed to remedy the problem. Sorry, Mak213, I forgot to mention it's XP, not Vista.

Okay that makes a bit more sense now. ;) Yes that would be a file association issue.

Well glad you got it sorted.
