Default sfc \scannow

Windows XP pro SP2.

I had had some difficulties with a DVD program and it was suggested that I ran sfc \scannow in case there was a corrupt .dll.

I ran it. Apart from a brief flicker of the CMD panel, nothing happened

Anybody know why?
