i have been trying for months to run sfc /scannow on my pc.
well i have made myself a slipstreamed xpsp2 (using autostream)and copied the I386 folder from cd to c:\WINDOWS\
ServicePackFiles folder. no matter what i set windows sourcepath , windowsNTSourcepath , ServicePackSourcePath ,
or ServicePackCachePath to it still asks for the cd (cd-rom drive is working).
i have tried e:\ (cd-rom drive) on everything and c:\ (HDD) still no luck.
in my c:\WINDOWS\inf folder i got a " FP40 ext.inf file" that when i open its got "WK_CD_NAME=" Windows xp Professional cd_rom" and SP_CD_NAME = "WINDOWS XP professional servicepack 2 cd" if i changed professional to home
(which is what i got) would that help me to run my sfc /scannow?
would it hurt anything?

thanks much
larry
