I just formatted my new hard drive and installed Windows XP Home on it.
I then proceeded to download all the Windows updates available, which went smoothly, but then when I installed Service Pack 2 and restarted I got problems..
The computer loads for about 5 seconds, then shuts down and starts up again. Then it gives me a lovely error message claiming it's unable to start up due to a recent software or hardware change. A bunch of options show up such as Safe Mode, Last Known Settings that Worked, or Start Windows Normally.
Safe Mode is the only one that works, as the others continue the cycle of endless restarting
Anyone know if this is a known problem with SP2? I've been researching for 3 hours but can't find a suitable fix, and I've tried formatting, installing Windows, and SP2 three times now with no luck..
