Im looking to format my laptop, when doing it on my pc I just go the bios and select cd as first boot device. On my laptop it just goes right to the windows load up screen without given the option to enter bios. Can anyone tell me how to get it to boot from cd in windows? Its windows xp by the way

Hello,

What laptop do you have? This can help determine what key you have to press in order to gain access to the BIOS settings.

You can still access the BIOS settings. You just need to press the correct key before the system boots into Windows.

The common keys to access the BIOS are:

F1
F2
Delete
Esc
F10

If you don't know what key you need to press, try powering up your laptop and tapping one of the keys each time.

Depending on what BIOS you have, you may be able to freeze the POST sequence by hitting the Pause button on the keyboard or by hitting the Esc key.
