Default scandisk freezes

When I run scandisk it goes almost the whole way and then it stops. Then my computer freezes. I do ctrl alt delete, and the blue sceen comes up, pust any key to continue but it just wont go anywhere. Then I get a black screen, then I have to re boot to start my computer up. Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks

Can you go and find the error codes for those events? That would help. Liz

I have windows 98. The error code is 0xc0000005. I have not upgraded anything, It always ask me if I want to "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send" Sometimes I send it and Microsoft tells me that they don't have a fix for it at this time win 98. Any suggestions

I have had 3 windows pop up with different errors. What does these mean? DDHELP caused a general protection fault in module GDI.EXE at 002:00000027
an exception OE has occured at 0028:c003117c in VxD

When these pop I must do ctrl alt delete and then reboot
What do i have to do with these errors.
