Hi again!

I downloaded AVG free version on a protected computer and placed it on a flashdrive.

When I attempted to install it on my new build, it says it could cause some major problems because I only have Vista Ultimate installed without any updates.

So AVG is recommending I first install the updates before installing the antivirus.

Is this safe? I am presently using the microsoft windows update to download the first set of updates, but I am not using any antivirus software.

Am I doing the right thing or am I in trouble?

Can someone please give me some insight into this.

Microsoft recommends doing the update through windows update because it will recognize problamatic drivers and fix these issues:

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 - Things to Know Before You Download

Can someone help me understand if I am going the right way in this?

It's me,

The same goes for xp. If you are not at least sp2 level you cant install it. I think they build assuming people are smart enough to be protected to a certain level. Normally installing windows updates is a good thing!

Thanks guys!

I did install the updates without an antivirus running and it seems all went ok.

I appreciate you and your help!

Have a good one!
