Question rolling back to directx 9.0b

How do roll back to an older version of directx, more specifically directx 9.0b? I have 9.0c installed, but there is an incompatibility problem between my video card, directx 9.0c and the game The Sims 2 which causes many objects in the game to show a wrong texture or color. When I had directx 9.0b it worked fine. I tried a couple of times installing the 9.0b version but failed, one time from and another from, but my dxdiag says that I still have the 9.0c version. I have restarted the computer. I have also tried installing directx 9.0b from a game (Doom 3) but I guess the wizard figured that if I had 9.0c already it should leave it that way. What do I do?

In the device manager, it only shows the NVidia driver. But anyway, I think it was an incompatibility problem between the NVidia driver, the video card and the game, because I still have directx 9.0c but rolled back the NVidia driver and now my problem is solved. But thanks anyway.
