Right Click causes lock-up

I'm using FireFox 1.5 with XP Pro sp2, and every time I download an application to the desktop and right click to open the application it will not respond and the system locks. However if I left click it opens. Further more I found that if I log off or at times (I've had to restart) I can then right click the application and it works fine. This has Just started in the past month. Any suggestions? Thanks!

go to start, run, type msconfig, go to startup, uncheck everything except your antivirus and firewall and reboot.
