Restart load help ; ;

need some help here ; ;
i'm fixing my cousin computer and i kinda clean it from virus and spyware etc then i updated her comp all of a sudden when it ask me to reboot after update it did a scan on C: Drive and i think it wipe my harddisk but im not sure cause when i restart the pc it keeps going to the loading screen then restart back and forth, does anyone know whats wrong or how i can fix this besides reformating the HD??

I take it that it is xp and you updated to sp2?

hmm yea i think.. its w/e that win update install from auto-updater but not sure.. why is it bad? and how can i fix it?

keep hitting f8 as it's booting-go into safemode, when windows loads, go to control panel add/remove programs- uninstall sp2

ps, do not install another service pack until they release sp3.1
