Default replacement to AVG

hey AVG is going to be discontinued on the 15th of january.

can you guys recommend a free antivirus?

The home version will probably remain free for a good while,They make money from the other version's like pro and business so i don't think they will just up and make you start paying any time soon.

Avast all the way. I use it not only with XP Pro but with Vista.

Avast is nice also but 7.1 is going to be discontinued download and install 7.5 . http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-free

Its not being discontinued they are updating it to 7.5, I have to get asked this question 15 times a day at work.
