We have sales force of 90 who all have laptops, on occasion these laptops will not boot because of some kind of system corruption which will in turn force the salesmen to drive into our corporate location to get the issue fixed, which is usually done by running the XP Recovery Console and a few commands like CHKDSK /R /P. This causes downtime which these guys cannot afford.
My question is, would it be possible or even make sense to perhaps somehow give these guys the ability to do some kind of recovery themselves? Maybe create an XP thumbdrive? Or maybe even XP's own system restore? Remember, these guys are anything but "computer smart" so it would have to be something simple they could do or be walked through over the phone. Also as a side note, these guys do not have admin rights.
