I have a Windows XP Media Center Edition on my desktop computer. I am going to buy a tablet PC which will have Windows XP Tablet Edition. I want to be able to use the desktop with the tablet like using Remote Desktop Connection. Since the desktop is not Windows XP Professional, how do i set this up. Do I need to buy other software or is there something in Windows that will let me do this.

I haven't used tablet edition, but I think all you have to do is allow remote connections on the other computer and attempt to connect by ip address. There should be a program shortcut for remote connections through accessories.

I think I remember reading on microsoft's site that Windows XP Media Center Edition is built on Windows XP pro. So I guess the media center has the ability to assist in remote desktops.

Do a test with someone to see if you can do it?

What do you want to exactly do, just transfer files?

remote desktop can't tranfer files which is why it sucks. if you need file tranfer use RADmin or PCAnywhere. type in those 2 words into the forum search and you will get help on those softwares. this explains most of your questions about remote dektop: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/rdfaq.mspx

there are two ways to use remote desktop, using the web browser or through the software built into winXP. not all versions of XP have the ability to be a remote desktop host. you can use the remote desktop client on winME/ 98 / MAC/ by downloading the remote desktop client from MS. here's some guides:
