Hi i have a computer that has windows xp home edition, i was wondering if there is a way you can install windows xp professional and not lose any documents or files on my computer.

as long as your not talkinga bout saving programs, burn the docs to CD. install, then put them back - this way you reformat your PC, and have backup copies of your work.

but yes, the upgrade option should let you save the docs as well

cant you just insert a windows xp pro CD and it will upgrade??

Ive gone from 98 to 2k and from 2k to xp Pro, Home didnt work

That is only if you have the XP Pro upgrade CD. If you have the XP Pro full cD it wont give the Upgrade option.

The Upgrade will do what you want. But a fresh install is always better. Back up your files to a CD or DVD and then install XP Pro. It will be better in the long run.
