Default refreshing folders does not work

I have the folders/icons arranged by "type" within my documents etc. and when I add a new folder/icon to the folder and hit refresh the new folder/icon does not go into place. I have to select "arrange icons by-type" again for the folders to be reorganized, although it (arrange by type) is still checked.

thanks for any help

Leave the folder then go back. IT should be arranged by type.

If closing it and reopening it does not work try reselecting arrange by type.

Not even , I have tried that a zillion times.

I finally got it to stick.

I did two things and not sure which solved it.

1) In folder settings I had "remeber each folder view" already selected but I clicked "apply to all folders"

2) I did these registry changes.

thanks for the replies
