Question Reformatting Windows Vista

So I have a dell Inspiron E1505 with windows vista Home basic, and I am trying to restore/reformat my laptop to its original factory settings. Does anyone know the steps for this or any information?

press f9 repeatedly and see if a menu comes up, it works for most laptops.
