Did you Fdisk the entire hard drive? (including the small Non Dos Partition at the the beginning)
How old is the compaq notebook? I am just hoping that it's not one of those notebooks where the BIOS is partition (the 7mb to 14mb non-dos partition) on hard drive. I had some bright spark at work delete the BIOS partition and then dump it on my desk for me to look at.
hmmm..... one week of abusive phone calls to HP later in order to get the correct ROMPAQ........
Compaq did away with this technology just before Win Me. Although with Armada M300 and Armada M700 Series, they did have the BIOS on the motherboard.
If that is the case, good luck on getting the romPAQs as the HP website and support really sux when it comes down to equiptment no longer under any warranty.
