Hi
i came across these two folders in on of my partitions.
RECYCLER & System Volume Information folders

what are they and should i delete them?

when i try to access System Volume Information, it says that Access is denied

system volume info holds data for restore points

recycler holds deleted items for that drive aka recycle bin.

these are windows standard folders do not delete them

Pretty sure those are hidden by default.

Tools/Folder Options/ View

Under 'Hidden Files and Folders' click the option to 'Do not show hidden files and folders.'

i thought you would have one recycler and system volume info for one physical drive

yes, i did turn on show hidden files and folders

you do
this is so that the restore points and deleted items stay on the one drive. if you move a hard drive to another computer, the deleted items and restore points for that drive go with it

i have a hard drive with 5 logical partitions
each of these partitions has its own restored points and deleted items

i thought it would have been not 5 restored points and 5 deleted items but one single restored point and one deleted item

personally I just disable system restore. If XP breaks, I do a repair install
often, system restore will actually archive viruses, spyware and other crap.
