Recovery CD

Most online computer builders give you a recovery cd when you buy a pc fomr them. AS far as i know the cd works allows you to go back to when your computer came out of the box. Is there any way to make one of these your self. Windows Recovery doenst seem to do the same thing. There must be away to do this.

Anyone have any ideas?
