Why stay away from AVG? How do you decide which one to have and which one to stay away?

Im guessing he had 1 bad expericne with AVG and doesn't like because of that.

AVG rocks though.
also Avast is nice I just don't like Avast's interface.

I've never had any problems with AVG whatsoever. I also use the Bitdefender/Panda/Housecall online scans from time to time.

I've been using AVG, had one too many virus slip past McAfee and Norton. That's not to say it's bad, I just haven't seen any performance. Now, Sophos is excellent, especially under a Novell network

why norton antivirus is away, i think norton antivirus 2006 is the best antivirus ever , this new version 2006 contains Spyware protection, so u don't need to have antispyware with it

try it
http://www.soft32.com/download_125512.html

this is the trial version ^ , u can use it for just 15 days
