Default Read Only HD ?

Everything on my secondary HD is Read Only !

Is there any way to undo this ?

When I go to the file properties the read only check-box is checked and grayed, I try to uncheck and apply but it just stays as read only.

The harddrive used to be an external but the enclosure broke so now I've been using it as an Internal if any of this information matters.

I have no idea how long it has been like this since I haven't tried to delete files from it since I put it in about a month ago.

since the enclosure is broke, cant you still how it up to the usb or firewire and then save the files to your pc then install it as an internal drive?

Your drive may be damaged and xp is trying to save it from more damage.

Your cabling/interface may be damaged.

Checkdisk is a simple surface test, but it may be worse.
I suggest removing the drive from any enclosure and installing it as an internal drive or in another enclosure....
