re-installing windows question

Lets say i'm running Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 installed. What happens if I re-install Windows without formatting the hard drive first? Will service pack 2, all of my drivers I have installed, and all of my programs I have installed still be there? Or will I have to re-install everything all over again?

well, except sp2. unless you have the actual package downloaded to a folder and did not dynamically update, you will need to do windows update again because the system dll files have been over written. drivers and what not should be fine but on rare occasions you may need to reinstall an app again, but not often, and save games and such should be fine.

i just reinstalled XP home without a reformat, and i had reinstall all my mobo's drivers along with the video card and XP updates. Maybe it's different for pro.
