random startups lagging how do i troubleshoot that

suddenly started freezing and lagging during and after startup

it would load startup slow.

and load windows slow
wont load half of the startup programs
the task manager doesn't work
internet explorer doesn't load any pages firefox doesn't even open...
pretty much completely ****ed...
hangs on restart

I press restart button and second time it loads fast like usual and absolutely no problems until I restart it again..

cant seem to figure out whats the issue is since I didn't install anything or change anything for months

Run a chkdsk

Start -> type 'cmd' (without quotes) -> right click -> run as admin -> in the console window that pops up type:
chkdsk C: /f /r
Press Enter and it will say it cannot lock the current drive and to run on next reboot. Type Y and hit Enter -> Reboot your computer and let it run through the check (it may take some time, depending on how big your HDD is).
