Restart your system in safe mode.
Upgrade your antivirus .
Shut down the system restore and scan your system.

I deleted those entries from the Hijackthis program.. However, when I came back to this site, another site popped up:

one thing you can do
Restart your system in a Safe Mode and update your antivirus.
Then turn off your System Restore and complete scan your system.
And delete the respective one.
 
What will this accomplish? It will not get rid of spyware when you are scanning for viruses. this is a spyware related problem. How is scanning for something totally irrelavant going to solve a spyware problem? I would like to know because it baffles my mind how a virus scan would clean spyware.
 
Well this is a ify situation and I'm not saying that if he does run the antivirus that it will delete/detect the spyware in this situation but antivirus products do and can delete spyware. Just because its branded as an antivirus, doesn't mean it wont have definitions to remove spyware. Take SAV for example ---> Spyware.WebMailSpy - Symantec.com


It's an AV but removes spyware (even thou it does it still sucks ***) Just like AVG Antivirus Free, it removes spyware even thou it says antivirus and they also have an antispyware suite that does basically the same things. I'd recommend AVG in this situation.

Spyware, Malware, Viruses, Trojans, etc all fall very close together, depends on what company calls it a virus or malware or how severe it is.

I see your point but i say this. Why try and use a AV for this purpose when there are much more efficent Spyware apps out there to do it. Case in point HiJack this. Used it for its purpose. Finding spyware. Not to try and find viruses. ;)

While they can be clasified as something other than spyware we are working with spyware. So to say run a AV scan in Safe mode will not accomplish this. Since more people dont use things like SAV.
