Default ram defreg

Hello, I was just curious as I have spotted software for RAM defragmenting, does this actually give a performance increase. Or does it do very little and not worth the time.

It's not worth doing. I think its a cheap trick to use software that isn't need. I doubt there are any performance gains, and TBH, why do it when RAM is volatile. Just stick to defraging your hard drive.

The only benefit I could see for this is that you could keep your computer on longer before memory errors creep up.

For most users, this wouldn't matter. Sounds like something nice for a server admin.

Its a frigging Laptop, not a Labtop!!!!

RAM runs in realtime access on the fly. You can't "defragment" RAM. However, the software probably better manages program access to RAM addresses in XP. and why might you ask? Because XP does not directly access memory but uses a Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and so I believe RAM "defrag" software must have some HAL organizational tool goin' on!
